Bhimeswara Swamy Temple - Draksharama

Draksharamam is located at a distance of 28 Km from Kakinada,50 Km from Rajahmundry and 25 Km from Amalapuram. Throughout the length and breadth of the Sacred Mother India, there are many pilgrim centers. From amongst them Draksharama is the one in the Southern India on the Eastern Bank of the River Godavari. Draksharamam is one of the Pancharamas and one of the 18 Shaktipeethas. It is famous as both Shiva kshetra and Shakti kshetra. Lord Bhimeswara swamy and Manikyamba mata are main the deities here. This place is also called as Dakshina Kasi.

It is colloquially known as Draksharama carrying the implied meaning as Draksharama meaning the Abode of Daksha Prajapathi the Father in law of Lord Siva and the beloved Father of Sati the spiritual spouse of Lord Siva.The history of the Sacred Pilgrimage is exhaustively dealt within the Skanda Purana of Sri Vyasa. Lord Bhimeswara swamy temple, Draksharamam is one of the famous Pancharamas. Goddess Manikyamba Matha temple here is one of the 18 Shakthipeethas. A place mentioned in Puranas where Daksha Yagna happened. A unique two storyed prakaras and temple complex with great architecture. Four gates have four goddess temples. Many shrines in the temple including Brahma, Narayana, Ganapathi, Bhirava etc. An interesting sculptural panel of Sapta Rishi's and Arundhati.
